SPBA COVID-19 Policy

Sandy Plains Baseball Association COVID-19 Policy 

COVID-19 WARNING: 

• An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people  are present. When you visit or use the park and facilities at Sweat Mountain Park  and Harrison Park, you voluntarily assume all risk related to exposure to COVID 19. 

• You should not enter the park if you have the following symptoms which are  currently recognized by the CDC as being symptoms of a COVID-19 infection: fever  over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or feeling feverish, chills, cough, shortness of breath  or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste  or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea. 

SCREENING PLAYERS AND COACHES: 

• Managers are responsible for ensuring players and coaches do not have a  temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or greater before attending  practice/games. 

Use of Personal Protective Equipment and Best Practices: 

• Face masks are optional for coaches, players, volunteers, and spectators, but they  are encouraged.  

• Players and parents are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer and utilize it before and  after practice/games. 

• No team cooler jugs (dispensing type) are allowed. Individual players are  encouraged to bring their own hydration equipment.

Player Equipment: 

• Measures should be enacted to avoid or minimize equipment sharing when  possible. 

Rule Modifications for Substitutions: 

• Substitutes will come from the opposing team and will play defense in the outfield  only. Follow the specific COVID substitution rule modifications as listed in the  respective league rules.  

NOTE: If your player tests positive for Covid-19, is suspected of having Covid-19,  or has been exposed to a known case of Covid-19, please promptly communicate  this information to your team manager and to our Health and Safety Officer  at safety@sandyplainsbaseball.com. 

BASED UPON THE ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER OF THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF  PUBLIC HEALTH DATED 1-5-22 (WHICH IS INCORPORATED HEREIN BY  REFERENCE), THE FOLLOWING POLICIES SHALL APPLY TO PLAYERS/PERSONS KNOWN TO HAVE COVID-19, SUSPECTED OF HAVING COVID-19, AND/OR  EXPOSED TO COVID-19. 

A. ISOLATION OF PERSONS KNOWN OR SUSPECTED TO HAVE COVID-19. 

1. Persons with known Covid-19. Upon receipt of notification of a positive lab confirmed test for Covid-19, the person testing positive for Covid-19 shall  immediately isolate himself or herself at home as set forth in Section A3  below. 

2. Persons with suspected Covid-19. Upon receipt of notification from a  healthcare provider that Covid-19 is suspected or diagnosed based upon a  person’s symptoms, the person with a suspected Covid-19 infection shall  immediately isolate himself or herself at home as set forth in Section A3 

below. 

3. Duration of Isolation. Each isolated person shall remain in isolation until  such time as the person no longer presents a risk of infection to the public,  as determined by the current isolation protocol adopted by the CDC or

Georgia Department of Public Health then in effect. The current isolation  protocol as of the date hereof is as follows: 

a) If the person was diagnosed with Covid-19 and has any Covid-19  symptoms, isolation may be discontinued: (i) after 10 days have  passed since symptoms first appeared, and (ii) at least 24 hours  have passed since the last fever without the use of fever-reducing  drugs, and (iii) symptoms have improved. 

b) If the person was diagnosed with Covid-19 but never developed any symptoms, isolation may be discontinued: when 5 days have passed  since the positive Covid-19 lab test and there are still no symptoms.  However, the person must continue wearing a well-fitting mask for  an additional 5 days. 

B. PERSONS EXPOSED TO COVID-19. 

1. ALL persons exposed to Covid-19, REGARDLESS of vaccination  status, should wear a well-fitting mask when around other persons for 10  days following an exposure. It is recommended that a Covid test is obtained  on the 5th day after exposure, or earlier if you develop symptoms. 

2. Persons with Covid-19 exposure and are not fully vaccinated (and boosted,  where eligible). If a person was exposed to Covid-19 based on close  contact (within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more), the exposed person shall  immediately quarantine at home if the person has not been fully vaccinated  for Covid-19 (and boosted, where eligible).  

3. The recommended time for quarantine is 10 days from last known exposure.  4. The quarantine period may be shortened, if you do not have any symptoms  within 5 days following your last exposure but you must continue to wear a  well-fitting mask for an additional 5 days in accordance with the conditions  

set forth in the Quarantine Protocol currently established by the GDPH.  5. During the period of quarantine, the quarantined person should monitor for  any signs of respiratory illness and monitor for fever by temperature checks  twice per day. If at any time the quarantined person experiences the  currently recognized symptoms of Covid-19, the quarantined person shall

be considered a person with suspected Covid-19 and must follow the  isolation requirements (see Section A3 above). 

6. Persons with Covid-19 exposure and are fully vaccinated (and boosted,  where eligible). Persons who have been fully vaccinated for Covid-19 and  remain asymptomatic after a Covid-19 exposure, do not need to quarantine  after the Covid-19 exposure but should wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days  following the exposure. However, if at any time in the 10 days following the  exposure, the person experiences the currently recognized symptoms of  Covid-19, the person shall be considered a person with suspected Covid 

19 and the person must follow the isolation requirements (see Section A3 above). 

Note: The word “player” and “person” shall include team members, coaches, team staff,  and volunteers. All COVID health policies apply to the entire team staff.
