The 2010 9U Cougars, have finished an incredible summer of All Star Baseball. The Cougars played in 6 tournaments and progress further in every tournament. No other team in the state is able to make that claim. Our boys came together as a team and realized that playing together was much more successful than playing alone. Our highlights include a 4th place finished in Districts, qualifying us for the State A tournament at LFO. We had a good State tournament and pulled off an upset of a highly touted team from the Buckhead area.
Shortly after our successes at Districts, our team decided to attend the World Series and began fundraising, and we sure are happy we did. Our players played their hearts out and ended up with a 4th place finish, out of 36 teams, in Tupelo, MS. Highlights of the tournament included Eli Weiner, striking out 15 in 11 innings…Trenton Reynolds, having 18 hits in 22 at bats….Sam Marques, making diving play after diving play at 2nd base….Matthew Fettig, striking out the side to hold on in several wins….Eric Hendricks, making spectacular catches in CF to preserve victories….Tristan Decker, scorching the ball with big blue….Andrew “Wags” Corbin, striking out 10 in 9 innings pitched….Mason Kearney, blasting the ball at the plate for 10 hits….Terry Andry, making key plays in the OF to preserve victory…Griffin Snyder, coming up with up some hits to the fence in timely situations….Brady Wolfe, a timely catch and timely hit to help win a game…..and Drew Vickrey (did not attend WS), but his defensive play throughout the summer in LF was superb. Each and every player contributed while in Tupelo to help us win games. It was a total team effort and a very exciting time for all that attended. We were the surprise of the tournament, but we knew we could do it, by never giving up!!!
THE 9U COUGAR SUMMER WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!!! GO COUGARS!!!
